MARAYS: Tailored packaging solutions for horeca partners.
Every market has its own unique demands, and horeca buyers need packaging that matches their specific requirements. From large tins used in bulk cooking to small portion packs for precise service, custom packaging gives buyers the flexibility to adapt without compromise.
At MARAYS, we see packaging not only as a way to protect products but also as a way to add value. Custom formats reduce waste by offering the right quantity for each application. A busy canteen benefits from bulk cheese tins, while a fine dining restaurant prefers smaller containers that guarantee freshness and portion control. This adaptability supports both cost efficiency and quality.
But we also listened closely to our customers. In 20 kg tins, easy-open options were appreciated for practicality, yet rising costs began to influence purchasing decisions. To address this, we sourced and adopted a patented easy-open solution that had not been widely used in our market. It delivers the same convenience without adding cost, helping us keep prices competitive. (Note: The patent is not owned by MARAYS; we procure and implement this solution.)
Another challenge was waste management. Many distributors and horeca clients expressed frustration about handling empty tins. Unlike paper, plastic, or bio-waste, businesses cannot legally own their own tin containers, and public collection points are rare. On top of that, 20 kg tins take up significant space until disposal and are difficult to transport back. To solve this, MARAYS introduced a new generation of 20 kg PP buckets. These rectangular containers can be nested inside each other when empty, making storage and return transport easier and more sustainable.
What made us even happier is seeing these buckets reused creatively: some horeca clients use them for sauces or secondary storage, while others even pass them on as flowerpots to their own customers. MARAYS PP buckets became not only practical but also multifunctional — a small touch of sustainability in everyday operations.
For us, custom packaging is not just convenience — it is a real competitive edge. It means lowering waste, solving real-life problems for horeca professionals, and delivering dairy products in formats that add value beyond the product itself.
